Finally I have finished my sweetest project this pregnancy. My mom passed down an old chenille bedspread that belonged to my Great Grandmother Afton to me a few years ago, and it has been hiding in my cedar chest since. I love to cuddle it, but don't really ever see myself using it as a bedspread. Well when we found out we were having a girl and were talking about names, my grandma Afton has been on my mind a lot. She is one of my sweetest memories, always sneaky with her sweets, and I was her little dancing girl. Once or twice a year we would go to Monroe to stay with them, and that started my love for small, dirt road towns. Both the name Afton and Monroe have been in my top 4 names for this baby...but we'll see. And to make the project sweeter, 3 other cousins, also grandchildren of Afton, have all been expecting (or already birthed) little girls. Mom wrote a post HERE about more of my grandmas quilts.
BEFORE: the original bedspreadAFTER:3 pillows for Ruby, Cambell and Baby Pederson (Quincy? due in Sept) and a little snuggle heart for my mom
And my sweet baby girls new old baby blanket that was once her Great Great Grandmothers:

(okay now you have made me cry) what a great job you have done, to know that you to cherish this woman has much as I did warms my heart.
Too special! What a wonderful way to share heirlooms with extended family. You're amazing Kacy!
What a fabulous idea and it turned out just beautiful! You have amazing ideas!
Bet it was tough to cut into the original bedspread but what a brilliant way to share a great-grandmother with more than just one descendant. Can't wait to see pictures of Hads with her new little sister when she arrives.
