One more year of young

29. Happy Birthday to me! PHEW! One last year to be a twenty-something, then its time to start shopping at Christopher Banks and wear tapestry socks to match my latest seasonal sweater. Think I can find some with *BELLS* and flashing lights on them? But until then I can still shop in the Juniors department...right?

Its crazy how life has changed in the last 10, or even 5 years. I used to enjoy a good blow out, getting my hair styled, nice and big and smooth. Now a blow out is different, when I am covered in baby poo and never know who to clean first...me or baby. And how to get her onesie off of her big head without smearing her own poo all over her face!

And my Dashing Prince, Brent. Who was all about parties, friends, and fast cars now sings a "I'm gonna get your booger" song in a high pitched, cartoon voice while changing a baby bum. He has gone from the latest in music to the latest in Princess Fashion, and is the only one in the house who truly understands how to set up a Princess Castle. Don't get me wrong, he is still just as dashing as ever, and the sweet hubs threw a surprise dinner for me last night with all my family and friends. What a good guy! And I really am a good wife too, because he is SO EASY to get info out of, and I didn't try at all to trick him into telling me and ruining my own surprise! Yeah me!

Speaking of bums in my house, one less is wearing diapers! Little Miss Hadley Jo is POTTY TRAINED! It has only taken trying on and off for 6 months, 27 wet spots on my carpet, a 5 pound bag of M&Ms, and every bribe known to man. But we made it, one month shy of her 3rd birthday. I must admit, its more of a pain to have a toilet trained child. Shopping trips used to be a lot easier when she could just wet herself, and I would change her when we got home! Now we are bolting from one side of the store to another, avoiding catastrophic accidents. Oy.

It has been a good year. Overall, I'm saying. Don't get me wrong, 4 hospital trips, expensive car problems, the soap-opera that is our daily family life, sad deaths, a sweet and wonderful birth, many weekend getaways. But who's counting right? I'd just like to thank Fiber One, Victoria's Secret, and Excedrin Migraine. Without you...Id be lost. and backed up. And my Family. I love you. And my friends, well...Brent told me last night after our party that I really don't have a lot of friends. So to my few friends over the age of 5...Love ya! Just thought I would throw this in there. My Mother-in-law likes my socks. I do too, I like how they match my ROCKIN SWEATER!

Jo, that sweater and sock ensemble is just what you need for your birthday outfit next year. I have to say as I get older (over the 30 mark) I quit shopping at Christopher and Banks. It dawned on me as I looked around the store that I didn't have gray hair like the rest of the shoppers!

You nailed me with the 'socks' observation. I love all sorts of strange and colorful socks. Now that I know that is a sign of oldness I will have to be more careful.

The Fiber One comment I can relate to. Seriously, never had a problem in my entire life! I turn 35 BAM.

I only have 2 real life friends, but I have a lot of internet friends and I know we'd be real friends if we ever met.

All I can say is, there are always people in your life that want to be your friend. You gotta be willing to be theirs too..=
